What is gas assist mold :
Gas-assisted molding (GAM or GAIM) refers to an injection molding technology in which inert high-pressure nitrogen is injected at the right time (75% to 99.9%) when the plastic is filled to the cavity, and the gas pushes the molten plastic to continue filling the cavity, replacing the plastic pressure holding process with gas pressure holding.
The gas assist moulding principle:
1. Measurement management.
2. The gas-assisted controller is used to press high-pressure nitrogen directly into the mold cavity of the melt plastic.
3, the gas causes the internal expansion of the plastic parts and causes the hollow.
Gas assist moulding have below two types forming way

The cycle period of gas-assisted injection moulding
1. Injection molding period
Fill the mold cavity with a quantitative amount of plasticized plastic. (Ensure that during the inflation period, the gas will not break through the surface of the product and can have an ideal filled gas.)
2. Inflation period
Gas can be injected at different times during or after injection molding. The pressure of gas injection must be greater than the injection pressure to cause the product to become hollow.
3, gas pressure holding period
When the inside of the product is filled with gas, the pressure of the gas acting on the hollow part of the product is the pressure holding pressure, which can greatly reduce the shrinkage and deformation rate of the product
4. Release period
With the completion of the cooling cycle, the gas pressure of the mold drops to the atmospheric pressure, and the product is ejected from the mold cavity.
The Equipment required for gas-assisted injection moulding :
o Injection molding machine
o Source of nitrogen (high-pressure nitrogen generator)
o Piping for transporting nitrogen gas
o Equipment to control the effective flow of nitrogen pressure (nitrogen pressure controller)
o Molds that can be formed using gas-assisted processes (gas-assisted molds)
The gas assist injection moulding parameter setting :
1. Setting of injection molding machine
o The drying temperature of the raw material is consistent with that of traditional molding
o The plasticizing temperature of the cylinder is higher than that of traditional injection molding
o mold temperature requirements are more strict, cooling water layout to make the cooling effect balanced
o Injection pressure is basically the same as that of traditional injection molding
o Injection molding speed generally adopts high-speed filling
o Injection pressure holding of injection molding machine can be disabled
2. Setting of high-pressure nitrogen equipment
a, the maximum pressure of high-pressure nitrogen generator is generally set not more than 35Mpa
B. Parameter setting of nitrogen pressure controller (gas pressure, gas holding time, pressure lifting rate, starting delay).
